Choosing The Denomination
Pick $229 if the person receiving this has never flown a light aircraft and you want them to find out whether they like it. Sixty minutes answers that question completely.
Pick $399 if they have already decided they are interested. Two hours holds a full airwork block and a navigation leg, and it is a lesson rather than an introduction. The middle denomination sits where you would expect it to.
What Makes This Different From A Voucher
The hour is logged. An instructor signs it into a logbook in the recipient's name with their certificate number against it, and the time counts toward a certificate if they carry on. A sightseeing ride does not do that.
Should they sign up for a program inside 24 hours of landing, the whole value of the flight is deducted from what the program costs.
The Practical Notes
There is a published weight limit of 180 lb for this flight and it is a performance limit rather than a preference. Worth checking before you buy rather than after.
The useful gift here is the logbook entry, not the flight.
What The Recipient Is Walking Into
- Six types, all owned here, all maintained here. When an airplane is due for the 100-hour inspection that 14 CFR 91.409(b) demands of a trainer, it comes off the line and gets one.

Fly The Aeroplane Once, Then Decide
The assessment flight is the first hour of the syllabus and a two-way evaluation. You fly it from the left seat with an instructor beside you, they write down what they saw, and you get an honest read on whether the plan is realistic. It is loggable, and it is credited in full against enrolment if you enroll within 24 hours.
