What Gets Decided In The Meeting
Which certificate you are actually aiming at, which is a real question and not a formality. A person who wants to fly themselves and three friends to Mammoth needs a different plan from a person leaving a career to fly for a living, and the two plans diverge at the first purchase, not the fifth.
Then the sequence. Ratings taken in the wrong order cost money — buying a glass-cockpit program before you have soloed is the most common example, and it is the one we talk people out of most often. Then the tempo, which is the single biggest variable in what a certificate ends up costing and the one you control.
And the total. Every program price is on this store already, so the meeting is not where you find out what things cost. It is where you find out which ones apply to you.
What We Will Tell You That You May Not Want To Hear
That an FAA medical, the subject of 14 CFR 61.23, should be settled before you spend anything, because a condition you do not know about yet can end a professional plan at the beginning, and finding out at hour ninety is expensive.
That flying twice a month is the most expensive way to earn a certificate, because relearning is not free, and that is where most of the hidden cost in flight training comes from. And that some costs are yours rather than ours — the written test, the examiner, a headset, the medical — which we will name, though we do not publish figures for other people's fees.
What It Is Not
It is not a sales appointment with a discount attached to signing that day. There is no such discount. The prices are fixed and published and they are the same on Tuesday as they are in the room.
Settle the medical first, ahead of every other expense. Nothing else tests the plan so cheaply.
What You Can See While You Are Here
- Every type in the fleet is school property, serviced on site. Instruction for hire triggers the 100-hour interval written into 14 CFR 91.409(b), and we would rather carry that cost than argue about it with an owner.
- Eleven instructors, matched to students one at a time and changeable if the pairing is wrong. Each holds a CFI alongside a commercial certificate or an ATP.
- A Redbird MCX lives on the field. It is enclosed, it sits on a motion base, it holds FAA approval, and a standalone booking is $189.
- The flyable-days figure for this field is 355, counted from NOAA ASOS records over the year to 1 August 2026 rather than estimated from a brochure.
- Fixed prices, published in full. The figure you agree at the start is the figure at the end, which is the point of buying a program rather than hours.
Fly The Aeroplane Once, Then Decide
The assessment flight is the first hour of the syllabus and a two-way evaluation. You fly it from the left seat with an instructor beside you, they write down what they saw, and you get an honest read on whether the plan is realistic. It is loggable, and it is credited in full against enrolment if you enroll within 24 hours.
