What This Package Is For
Committing to a defined amount rather than an open-ended one. Some people want to know they can do this before they agree to a full certificate, and a first solo is the honest milestone at which that question gets answered. Nothing in the block is wasted if you carry on — the hours are logged and the training is the same training.
It is also the right purchase for somebody whose budget is genuinely finite this year and who wants a real achievement inside it rather than a partial one.
What Has To Be True Before You Can Solo
An FAA medical, governed by 14 CFR 61.23, is required, together with a student pilot certificate and an endorsement from your instructor. That endorsement is a professional judgment about a specific person in a specific airplane at a specific airport, and it is not on a schedule.
Which is the part worth understanding before you buy: this package contains a defined block of training, and the solo happens when your instructor is satisfied. It is not a date. Anybody promising you a solo by a fixed day is applying pressure to the wrong person.
The Airspace Factor Here
A first solo here happens inside Class D airspace that sits directly below the Los Angeles Class B, sharing a pattern with jets. That takes a student longer than a quiet uncontrolled field would, and it produces a more capable pilot. Both halves of that are true and we would rather you knew the first one now.
A first solo is earned on your instructor's judgment, not on a calendar.
Standards Behind The Block
- Six types, all owned here, all maintained here. When an airplane is due for the 100-hour inspection that 14 CFR 91.409(b) demands of a trainer, it comes off the line and gets one.
- Instructing staff: eleven. Credentials, without exception: a flight instructor certificate, a commercial certificate or an ATP behind it, and a medical in date.
- One simulator, and it is a good one: an FAA-approved Redbird MCX, enclosed cockpit, motion base. Booked on its own it costs $189.
- Weather costs a full-time student roughly ten days a year here. NOAA ASOS records put 355 days above 3,000 ft and 5 sm in the twelve months ending 1 August 2026.
- Every program price is printed on this store. There are no ranges, no block-rate discounts and no number you have to ask for.
- Part 61, stated plainly. The curriculum, the prices and the hours are published; a pass rate and a graduate count are not, because there is no honest one to print yet.

The assessment flight is the first hour of the syllabus and a two-way evaluation. You fly it from the left seat with an instructor beside you, they write down what they saw, and you get an honest read on whether the plan is realistic. It is loggable, and it is credited in full against enrolment if you enroll within 24 hours.
