What The Second Hour Is For
Planning and flying a leg away from Van Nuys with the airplane configured properly for cruise, then bringing it back and setting it up for an arrival. Gear, power, propellers and speed managed in a sequence that has to happen in order, while somebody on a radio asks you to do something else.
That is the actual work of flying a twin, and it does not appear inside an hour.
Where It Fits In A Career Sequence
A multi-engine rating is a phase, not a purchase. It sits after the instrument rating for most people, because a twin flown in the system is worth more than a twin flown in good weather, and 14 CFR 61.129 governs the commercial aeronautical experience that the sequence is ultimately built toward.

The Cost Warning We Will Give You Unprompted
Two hours in a twin is the most expensive single booking on this store. If what you want is airplane time, you will get more of it, and learn more from it, in a single-engine trainer. If what you want is a decision about the multi-engine phase, this is the right purchase and the single is not.
