What ninety minutes adds
Room to fly a route rather than a circuit. The flight deck gets set up for a leg, the leg gets flown, and the person at the controls does the navigating instead of watching it happen. That is the part of a high-performance single that justifies the airplane.
It also gives the instructor time to hand over more. A sixty-minute flight with three aboard is a busy sixty minutes; ninety leaves margin for a second attempt at something.
Load and temperature
Three adults and fuel in warm air is a real performance question, not a formality. Van Nuys is 802 ft above sea level and flies like roughly 4,100 ft when September hits 100°F, and 14 CFR 91.103 makes the runway and climb calculation a duty of the pilot in command. Early slots climb better. We will offer you one.
What this booking does not do
It does not produce three logbook entries, and it is not three lessons sold at a discount. One person is the student. The other two are passengers with a good view.
If all three of you want to learn, buy three separate lessons. This is not that.
What is verifiable here
- The fleet is bought, not borrowed. Six types, one owner, one maintenance program, and an inspection interval set by 14 CFR 91.409(b) because these airplanes teach for hire.
- The instructing staff numbers eleven. Three credentials are required of every one of them: a flight instructor certificate, an ATP or a commercial certificate behind it, and a medical that has not lapsed.
- There is an FAA-approved Redbird MCX on site, on a motion base and closed in. A session on its own is $189, and no session has ever been lost to weather.
- NOAA ASOS records for this field give 355 training days in the year ending 1 August 2026, tested against 3,000 ft and 5 sm with four qualifying daytime hours needed before a day counts.
- What you enroll at is what is published. We do not run block rates and we do not negotiate, which is what makes a fixed price mean anything.
